Fitness America takes a detailed look at the cost of
unhealthy employees, why it is important to have a health
risk reduction program, and why forming a wellness partnership
with our facility will benefit your corporation.
The lifestyle choices employee’s make significantly
affect the company’s bottom line. The financial
impact of unhealthy lifestyles, such as not exercising,
obesity, smoking, high blood pressure and high cholesterol
can significantly increase health care premiums.
On average, each health risk that an employee has costs
the employer $1500.00 per risk. This average is taken
from the Steel Case Study, performed by the University
of Michigan. For example, if an employee is currently
not exercising and is overweight, they could cost their
employer, on average, $3000.00 more than an employee
who is working out and is controlling their weight.
The average American workforce has 43% of the employees
with two to three health risks, resulting in an average
cost of $4000.00 per employee. If our facility can help
motivate even a small percentage of your employees to
become more active or lose a few pounds, your company
could save $1500.00 per employee we work with.
It ’s obvious that healthier employees cost less in
healthcare premiums to their employees. But what is needed
to help employees become healthier? Employees must be provided
with education, motivation, and support! Education about
their personal health status, motivation on how to take
action and why it’s important to them, and support
throughout the journey of creating healthy lifestyles.
This is what our fitness professionals deliver!
